Travesties

A Public Reading of Tom Stoppard’s Play

Written by Britain’s award-winning playwright Tom Stoppard, Travesties is the 1974 reminiscences of British consular official Henry Carr about what may or may not have happened in 1917 when James Joyce, Dada founder Tristan Tzara and Russian revolutionary Lenin met in Zurich. Mistaken identities, farcical situations and excellent word play are cleverly woven together by Stoppard to reveal the diverging political and philosophical views of the three protagonists.
