Opening matinee – Festival address by Moritz Leuenberger

Das Ganze im Nichts und das Nichts im Ganzen. Dada – Immerdar

In this year of Dada, Moritz Leuenberger will give the opening speech for the Zurich Festspiele. Leuenberger has played out much of his life on the stage of politics and, in more recent years, on the stage of speeches, theatre and entertainment. He has always acknowledged the close link between politics and theatre and has experienced at first hand both the political dimension in Dada and the Dadaist dimension of politics. Jaap Blonk is one of the most significant vocal artists and sound poets of our time. For some decades now he has been working on Kurt Schwitters’ Ursonate – perhaps the most convincing artistic statement to arise from the primeval broth of Dadaist rebelliousness during the 1920s.
